Gold Filled

Gold Filled Jewellery is made from a thick layer of gold bonded to a base of typically brass, copper or even steel. It tends to be 5 to 10 times thicker than anything just gold-plated and therefore will really stand the test of time. Legally to be classed as Gold Filled the metal needs to consist of 5% of the overall weight which is bonded to the base metal by heat and pressure. It is important not to cast Gold Filled metal as it will no longer be a layered product and theoretically no longer gold filled.
